Material Options for Outdoor Kitchens

No matter what your summer plans are, the perfect outdoor kitchen can help you make the most of your backyard.

Summer is nearly here, and entertaining outdoors is one of the best ways to spend those warm summer nights. Whether you’re inviting a group of friends over or you just want to make dinner under the stars, the perfect outdoor kitchen can help you make the most of your backyard. At Magazi Kitchens and Baths and A.G. Building and Remodeling, we know just how important it is to get every detail right!

Benefits of Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is still the main option for outdoor kitchens. It is easy to clean and corrosion-resistant. There are two grades of stainless steel, 304 or 316, in outdoor kitchens. In the suburban backyard, a 304 grade is the best option for cabinets and appliances. The cabinets, however, do not have to have a stainless finish. With advancements in powder coatings, you can choose painted stainless steel surfaces that have aesthetic and practical benefits. Choose colors such as white, blue, or slate, or select patterned cabinets that resemble wood. These cabinets resist chipping, fading, oxidation and are protected from harsh elements such as chlorine.

Natural Patterns are Right at Home in Outdoor Kitchens

The top of our built-in appliances can be stone or brick. However, today can use a countertop material to resemble your kitchen. Silestone has a product called Deckton that can be used indoors and outdoors. It comes in solid colors or a wood-like appearance in brown or grey. Caesarstone has just unveiled a great outdoor countertop material called Solaris. It is solid through and through, can withstand any weather, and is stain resistant. It comes in several solid colors.

Don’t Forget About Lighting!

Lighting should also be considered for your outdoor kitchen and entertaining. Posts, bistro string lights, or outdoor lamps can be used in the cooking area and should be rated for outdoor use. Landscape lighting and floodlights can brighten the entire space. Fire pits add warmth and fun while toasting marshmallows, and they can also create a rustic atmosphere that homeowners and their guests will love.
