Big New Trends
Statement floors in bold colors, geometric and herringbone tiles to be used everywhere especially in bathrooms and laundry rooms. It makes a small room stand out without adding clutter. In the kitchen hardwood floors are still number one with porcelain/ceramic floors second.
More homeowners are moving toward the medium to light wood cabinets which gives the room a more warm and inviting feeling. However, white and gray are still the dominant colors for the kitchens. The most popular built-in accessories are pull-out waste and recycling cabinets, cookie sheets/tray organizers and deep drawer organizers.
Exciting Colors
Warm neutral colors from ultra violet, the Pantone color of the year, to warm reds and caramel browns are predicted for 2018. A single addition such as a painted wall or artwork can bring a room up to date and makes for a modern feel.
The hardware finish to use in 2018 is matte such as matte bronze, matte chrome, and matte nickel. Brass and gold in a matte finish are making a comeback. Faucets in the kitchen or bathroom in these finishes give the room a warm feeling.

Comeback of the boldly colored kitchen cabinets of the 50’s are taking on a sophisticated modern look. Late 80’s kitchen look minus the gingham are taking over in today’s farmhouse chic trend. The top three trending design styles in 2018 is farmhouse, transitional and contemporary in the kitchen and in the bathroom transitional and contemporary.
Floral prints in bold and contrasting colors in chairs, pillows and drapery are predicted to make a comeback in 2018. Though trends come and go the most sustainable approach to design is quality workmanship that results in long lasting finishes and furnishings.
